Eliphaz continues with his speech. The point of this speech is to make clear that the people who suffer and struggle do so because of what they have done. The authority to which Eliphaz appeals is the authority of the wise men that he has seen in history agree with him. Thus, the argument then is: The wise men have seen this, you are not wiser then them, thus Job you need to repent.
