There are people in Corinth who seriously doubt the credibility of the apostle Paul. The apostle has defended his apostolic office by appealing to his suffering, but now he moves to the nature of glory. Why is glory so important? In what sense do we have glory now? How can we have glory in the midst of suffering? How does this establish that the apostle Paul really does see his life anchored in heaven as he goes through this age?
