The debate regarding man’s freewill and choosing Christ is a debate that is still active today. The substance of the debate is whether man is holy enough, good enough, or capable to choose God? My answer from John 3:3, 5 is that man cannot choose God. However, is there a sense in which man can still do good? How much good can man do without the grace of God?
