In America Thanksgiving marks sort of the beginning to the Christmas season. So, as we take some time to consider the birth of Christ. Something that is always striking to me is why does Luke start with the birth of John? You see we want to hear about Christ so why waste space talking about John? Why not get to the substance of the message without taking this sidetrack? Have you ever wondered why the prophet John is called to our attention rather than just dealing with Christ?
